Probate Grant Only - Fixed Fee

We can help you through this difficult process by obtaining the Grant of Probate on your behalf.

How much does the service cost?

TOTAL: Fixed fee between £850 to £1,800 (excluding VAT).

This includes: obtaining all necessary information and valuations to draft the Inheritance Tax account and probate application paperwork and finally obtaining for you the Grant of Representation. This applies to non-taxable cases only.  Where Inheritance Tax is payable the process is considerably more complex and fixed fees to obtain probate in this respect will be between £1,950 to £3,000 (excluding VAT).

Disbursements

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as court fees. We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.

  • Probate court fee of £300.00
  • Land Registry Search fees of £10.00 per search if estate properties are registered at the Land Registry
  • Money Laundering & Compliance Checks for Deceased & Executors of £7.50 per search
  • Secure GDPR Data Protection Compliant File Storage – £39.00

As part of our fixed fee we will:

  • Provide you with a dedicated and experienced probate practitioner to work on your matter
  • Identify the legally appointed executors or administrators and beneficiaries
  • Accurately identify the type of Probate application you will require
  • Obtain the relevant information required to draft the application paperwork
  • Complete the Probate Application and the relevant HMRC Inheritance Tax forms
  • Draft legal statement for you to sign
  • Make the application to the Probate Court either via post or their online service
  • Obtain the Probate and securely send two copies to you

How long will this take?

The average time taken to obtain a Grant of Probate from the Probate Court is at least 16 weeks. This could be much longer if the application is via a paper application rather than online. This will affect the time scale in obtaining the probate for you as will the size of the estate, the number of assets involved, whether inheritance tax is payable and whether there is a Will or not. In any of those circumstances this could increase the time involved in obtaining probate from between 6 to 12 months.
